Netherlands Willem I Proof 1/2 Cent 1819 PR63 Brown NGC,

Netherlands
Willem I Proof 1/2 Cent 1819 PR63 Brown NGC, Utrecht mint, cf. KM51 (Proof Unlisted), Schulman-351 (RR). An exceedingly challenging minor from the second year of the type. Despite the mintage statistics differing across Schulman and the Standard Catalog, 114,000 and 144,000 pieces respectively, its scarcity as a key of the type is confirmed by this specimen being the only graded example across NGC and PCGS and the type going unrecorded as a Proof strike for this date in Krause. The eye-appeal of the offering cannot be understated. Although the devices are undeniably crisp and demonstrate hardly any handling, the fields are the true star of the show, glinting with neon cobalt, amethyst, and baby blue tones during in-hand inspection. All in all, a fantastic piece for the scrupulous collector of Dutch numismatics.
